Making a Bequest to the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM)

Thank you for your interest in naming the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in your will. Leaving a legacy to future generations is a rewarding and noble act. It is important that a bequest be correctly stated in your will. The following language may be useful, but we do suggest that you consult your attorney for the best advice in your particular situation:

Specific Bequest

"I give the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, currently located at 1631 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, Federal tax ID #23-7057224, the sum of $_______ [to be used by the AAPM for its general purposes] or [according to a Statement of Intent previously agreed to by the AAPM and me]."

Residuary Bequest

"I give the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), Alexandria, VA 22314, Federal tax ID #23-7057224, ____ percent of the residue of my estate [to be used by the AAPM for its general purposes] or [according to a Statement of Intent previously agreed to by the AAPM and me]."

Contingent Bequest

"In the event that ___________ predeceases me, I give the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), 1631 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, Federal tax ID #23-7057224, the sum of $______ [or, alternatively, _____ percent of the residue of my estate] [to be used by the AAPM for its general purposes] or [according to a Statement of Intent previously agreed to by the AAPM and me]."

It is advisable to share your plans with the AAPM, especially if you would like to designate how the organization is to use your bequest. The information will remain confidential, and you can be certain that AAPM both understands and will honor your wishes.

We would be pleased to assist if you and your advisors would like more information about ways to include AAPM in your estate plans.
